The Lord has a purpose in me

I was saved and came to the church in Sibu, Malaysia, 1989. At that time, I had very little knowledge about the Lord but I went to the young peoples meetings with some other brothers and sisters and enjoyed the gatherings. A couple of years later however, I became a prodigal son lost in the world feeding the hogs.

Then in 1994, my brother and I moved to Christchurch to further our study. When I left Sibu, I didn’t tell the brothers and sisters regarding my moving to Christchurch. I thought I could live a peaceful life and concentrate on my study. However, when I arrived at the airport, by God's sovereign arrangement, I met a brother who was my senior in our high school. We exchanged telephone numbers and 2 weeks later, I went to the Lord’s table meeting and got to know more brothers and sisters. I really appreciated that the Lord didn’t give me up. He was interceding for me and I was like the prodigal son returned to the Father to enjoy the fatten calf.

Since that time, my love towards the Lord has been stirred up. He has drawn me to Himself and I love Him very much. I began to pursue the Lord by reading His word, studying His word and enjoying the Lord more and more with the young people. I also realised that the Lord is edible and drinkable (John 6:51) and by eating and drinking of Him, I will be renewed, transformed day by day,(Romans 12:2) eventually be conformed to the image of the Firstborn Son who is Christ Himself and eventually be glorified (2 Cor 3:18) .

Seventeen years in Christchurch is a long time. A lot of things have changed since first arriving here but I can testify that I am still enjoying the Lord with the brothers and sisters in the church life. The Lord we are enjoying today is just a foretaste of the full enjoyment in the New Jerusalem. Hallelujah! We will enjoy the Lord throughout eternity!

May we all encourage one another to eat Him, drink Him, love Him and enjoy Him day by day so we can be the overcomers to bring the Lord back and consummate the New Jerusalem.
